How It Works
STEP 1: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION ONLINE

Using the form provided, complete the online application form to open a CIBC GIC account. Once you have successfully submitted the application and upload your LOA and your International Passport.
STEP 2: SEND PAYMENT
Send an International Wire Payment
Transfer $20,635 CA with no transaction fees when you transfer in foreign currency.
STEP 3: ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT
Book an In-Branch Appointment for Verification and First GIC Payout
When you visit a CIBC Banking Centre, we’ll deposit $6,190.50 CA into your CIBC chequing account.
We’ll invest the remaining $14,444.50 CA into your GIC Program Account.
STEP 4: PAYOUT
GIC Payout
You’ll get the full amount invested in the GIC Program Account back in 11 equal payments over 1 year, plus you’ll earn interest!
